Grant Proposal for Technology
I am a teacher of Special Education. I have a classroom that is called a self-contained classroom. I teach students in grades fourth, fifth, and sixth. These students have different disabilities, but all of my students are capable of using a computer. My students are in my classroom for majority of the day. This grant proposal is for $1750.00. I request technology for my classroom. We need a computer, projector, and a printer. I am going to place the computer and printer near the teacher’s desk. All students will be able to have access to the computer during their designated time during the day for 15 minutes to complete assignments or to use the internet to strengthen their skills they are learning using educational internet sites. The projector will be used with different assignments using the computer. The different software used through the computer and projector will be like power point, Microsoft word, and different educational web sites off the internet. The students would be allowed to use the computer to complete assignments and print them off on the printer. I will also use the printer and computer for printing off work and activities for the students.

These students have different disabilities, but all of my students are capable of using a computer. My students are in my classroom for majority of the day. This grant proposal is for $3500.00. I request technology for my classroom. We need four computers, a projector, and a printer. I am going to place one computer near the teacher’s desk for use of the projector and classroom assignments used for the students. I am going to place the other three computers at the back of the classroom. The students will be able to use the computer for 30 minutes of the day on individual time. The students will use their individual time on assignments and will be able to print them off on the printer. These students will also use the computer on group assignments. The reason for four computers is so that the students will have more individual time on computer and access to computers for a longer time for group assignments.
Access Use Policy
The educators and students use instructional resources via LAN, WAN, the Internet, and other electronic devices. Administrators, teachers, library media specialists, and students must monitor the use of technologies for grade-level and content appropriateness, ethics, and safety.
Schools and divisions are required to establish guidelines for appropriate technology use. These guidelines generally are called acceptable use policies (AUP). By definition, an AUP is a written agreement signed by students, their parents/caregivers, and their teachers. It outlines the terms and conditions for using technology-based devices maintained by schools and personal technology-based devices used during school hours on school property.
To assist schools and divisions with developing an AUP, the Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology maintains links to related resources. These links include AUP samples and information about specific AUP components, such as Internet filtering, cyber ethics, and cyber safety.
Some ways to keep schools safe while using internet:
1. Contract Among Teacher, Students, and Parent - Each student who gains access to the
Internet must have a signed contract of agreement on file. The school
employees must also sign an Internet agreement, which will be kept in their personnel
files.
2. Access to the Internet - Students may access the Internet only through classroom or
media center computers and only if they have signed contracts on file at the schools.
Contracts must be updated each year at the primary and elementary schools. They must
be updated once upon entrance to the middle school and once upon entrance to the high
school. Contracts must be maintained in students' cumulative files. Information may
also be maintained electronically through the OSIRIS system.
3. Training for Staff Members and Students - Training will be provided at each school
site for teachers and other staff members in the use of the Internet and the content of this
policy. Training for students in the use of the Internet and in the content of this policy
will be conducted by teachers initially and throughout the year. This policy will appear
in the Student Handbooks at each school and will be discussed with students as are other
policies.
4. Violations of Conditions of the Policy - Inappropriate use of the Internet may result in
suspension of access, in other school disciplinary actions, and/or legal action.
Inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to:
- posting personal communications without the author's consent
- posting anonymous messages
- giving out personal account number, home address, or picture except for educational
purposes, subject to parent and teacher approval
- using the network for any illegal activity, including violation of copyright
- using the network for financial or commercial gain
- degrading or disrupting equipment or system performance, for example; copying large
files or sending quantity e-mail messages
- gaining unauthorized access to resources or entities
- using the network to gain access to or to distribute pornographic or sexually-explicit
materials
- invading the privacy of individuals
- vandalizing the data of another user
- copying of material or software without teacher permission
- students responding to unsolicited on-line contact
- students joining or subscribing to list-serves or news groups
- writing or sending abusive messages, using vulgarities, swearing, or using any other
inappropriate language
- students purchasing goods and services via the Internet; these lead to financial
obligations and are prohibited
- any use of the Internet that does not support educational and research goals consistent
with the educational objectives of the School System.
Netiquette - Students and staff members are asked to use proper netiquette when using
the Internet and representing the school. Be polite and unoffensive. Do not
reveal personal addresses, phone numbers, or the same for other individuals. Electronic
mail messages are not guaranteed to be private and should be related to educational
goals. Do not share or reveal passwords to others. Do not view or distribute another
person's e-mail. Do not burden the computer system with huge file downloads during
prime time usage, huge e-mail transmissions, or any other activity that might adversely
affect the network or computer system.
The school makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed
or implied, for the service it is providing. The school will not be responsible
for any damages suffered by its employees or students. This includes loss of data
resulting from delays or service interruptions or responsibility for the accuracy or quality
of any information obtained through the Internet. The school will not be
responsible for financial obligations incurred by students and staff resulting from use of
the Internet.

Assignment #1
My name is Eva Conner. I am from Jacksonville, Alabama. I have been living in Tuscaloosa for about seven years. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, and I am getting my second Bachelors degree in Special Education (K-6). I am getting married in November. Hopefully, I’ll be finished with school by May 09.
I feel like technology, like blogging or any type of technology that uses the computer, is very efficient for teachers to share ideas with other teachers not only in their school, but school districts in their state and even nation-wide.
